Colin Smith, Professor of Functional Genomics at the 香港六合彩资料, is the lead organiser of a prestigious Royal Society Theo Murphy international scientific meeting that will look at technologies and techniques for ribosome profiling and imaging molecules within living cells. These approaches allow scientists to look at important cellular processes behind the production of proteins and how these can go wrong in a range of human diseases including infections, dementia and cancer.
Speaking about the event, Professor Colin Smith said: “Each individual’s DNA makes up their own unique genome. Within this, individual genes, when ‘switched on’, are responsible for producing important proteins through a process of ‘translation’. New techniques are allowing us to develop our understanding of how this process works. This gathering of international experts will hopefully facilitate new interdisciplinary collaborations and experimental approaches to further develop our understanding of this fundamentally important area.”
