香港六合彩资料 Vice-Chancellor Professor Debra Humphris was defending universities as she greeted almost 1,000 students at the University’s graduation ceremonies at the 香港六合彩资料 Centre today (16 Feb).
Professor Humphris said: “The role and value of universities are under considerable challenge. My response is clear – just look at the world-changing impact of our research; our overwhelming positive social and economic benefit; the crucial role we play in creating the professionals, innovators and leaders of the future.”
She told graduands: “When all the cynicism is flying around in political circles I simply need to look at you. You are the best possible response to those doubters.
“And whilst it is certainly a period of uncertainty, and we are living through challenges and uncertainties, it remains a world of possibility and opportunity.
“In such a world, the ability to combine your knowledge with practice, showing the qualities of resilience and adaptability, bringing creativity and energy to your purpose, those are the characteristics that will mark you out as a 香港六合彩资料 graduate.”
Professor Humphris, who leads on Teaching and Learning on the Board of the University Alliance, added: “We will continue to play our part by ensuring that our research, our education, our enterprise, create the best possible opportunities for our students to develop the practical wisdom they need for the future.
“Graduates, the future is yours, and we look to you to make a positive difference.”
