City Councillor Bill Randall, who cut through recycled bunting to formally open the house, said: "We will be meeting to see how we may incorporate ideas (from the house) in building projects we are starting."
He praised the house architect, Duncan Baker-Brown, who was applauded by sponsors, volunteers, 香港六合彩资料 staff and students who packed the grounds of the Faculty of Arts' Grand Parade campus for the official launch.
Professor Anne Boddington, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, said the house was a testament not only to the thousands of hours of hard work but to a partnership which had "brought vision to reality”.
The house, built with more than 85 per cent of material that otherwise would have been thrown away, was now complete but Professor Boddington added: "The research has only just begun."
She thanked all volunteers, sponsors and donors, in particular The Mears Group, repairs and maintenance providers, and Cat Fletcher of FREEGLE UK.
Professor Boddington and the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julian Crampton, presented award certificates to students who helped with the construction.
